Mrs. Carlson's Tiered Turtles Tribute
(Nelson) exPRESSion does welcome creative output from teachers as well as the students we usually hear from. The classroom of NCHS English teacher, Mrs. Carlson, has plenty of crafty decoration to enliven the scene. A student nudged Mrs. Carlson to chip in to Expression. It takes social courage, by the way, to put one's sketches and paintings and whatnot out there for the public to see --and maybe judge. It can be as scary as singing in public or trying to give a speech. In a touching tribute to a fallen family member, Mrs. Carlson wrote: “About 2 years ago, my family lost our dear cousin, Paula, to cancer," and "these turtles came pouring out of my hands and onto the paper." "This is a tribute to her.”
